Countering Coulter

June 26th, 2007 · 1 Comment

We always knew Ann Coulter was a self-righteous little monster, but this is pretty ridiculous. Apparently yesterday she was on ABC news and said, “[I]f I’m gonna say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.” In 2003 she wrote a column claiming that John Edwards drove around with a bumper sticker saying “Ask me about my son’s death in a horrific car accident” and recently called him a “faggot.”

However, on MSNBC today Elizabeth Edwards called in and the two had a nice verbal spar in which Mrs. Edwards asked Ann Coulter to stop the personal attacks. Predictably, Ms. Coulter tried to distort the situation, first by denying her remarks, and then by pretending she was being unreasonably censored. They have the clip and transcript here.

I don’t really have much to say about this except that I continue to be appalled by Ms. Coulter’s behavior and hope that incidents like this erode her popularity with conservatives that ought to know better. I’m no fan of Michael Moore, but at least his movies, as sensationalist as they often are, don’t set out to degrade with such an intense hatred. What did these people do to you anyways? Waste your money with inefficient poverty programs? Teach our kids about safe sex and evolution? Sorry lady, but that doesn’t justify these types of remarks.

Yikes, scary woman, bitter and hate-full. She needs an anger managment course!

Wonder what her history is, or to use jargon: her baggage. The woman needs help - and some duct tape. But no excuses for her horrific verbal assaults. Makes me ashamed. I thought ‘the sisterhood’ was above this kind of stuff.
